You will attend special cultural and art events, dances and cabarets as representatives of NHDA.

MEETINGS: General membership meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

Individual Membership is for those who wish to join as members under the Washington, D. C. and Metropolitan Area Chapter. Individual Members are entitled to all rights listed under the by-laws of The National Hand Dance Association. By-Laws are distributed by request and are housed at NHDA Headquarters.

Group Membership is for those persons who would like to join the Washington, D.C. and Metropolitan Area Chapter in a group with ten (10) or more joining at the same time. Please indicate number joining, with each individual filling out an application form. Group applications must be submitted together. Group members are entitled to all benefits of an Individual Member, but at a reduced first time membership fee. Must be a member of an already existing membership organization.

Affiliate Members may sponsor members or participants in affiliate group activities (dance class, etc.) at a Special rate. Must be approved.

AFFILIATE APPLICATION

Affiliate Membership is for any autonomous organization acting in a subsidiary capacity to NHDA. Organizations will be able to join NHDA as affiliate members by providing a specific service that relates to the goals (to preserve, educate, and promote the African American art form of hand dance) of NHDA. Affiliate members shall support and assist NHDA in any and all of its activities (fundraising events, community services, etc.) depending on its’ area of expertise.

Affiliate members are entitled to all rights as listed under the bylaws of The National Hand Dance Association for affiliate membership. When promoting affiliation with NHDA the words “an affiliate of” is the appropriate term to use, i.e. Name of Organization, an affiliate of The National Hand Dance Association. If joint venture, “in affiliation with” would be appropriate.

RATES:
Affiliate Membership - $125.00 per year (April 1st of each year). Any person joining NHDA through referral from the Affiliate Organization must be verified before receiving the discounted rate.

CHAPTER APPLICATION

Chapter Membership is for those persons outside of the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area who wish to start a chapter in their own area (city/county, state) or who wish to join a chapter already established in their area. This is to avoid having more that one chapter in the same municipality. Please identify city/county and state of Chapter Membership for which you are applying. Chapter Members are entitled to certain benefits, including specific information on how to establish a Chapter in areas outside of the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. More specific information is included in By-Laws of The National Hand Dance Association (NHDA). NHDA is a 501(c) 3 tax exempt organization.

There must be a file for each individual joining as a Chapter member. The list of members must accompany the application, as well as the information required on the following pages.

NOTE: All chapters must adhere to the By-Laws of The National Hand Dance Association. Chapters are permitted to establish their own By-Laws, but must submit to NHDA for review and approval. Where there is a discrepancy in the implementation of Chapter By-Laws, The National By-Laws take precedent.

RATES:
Chapter Membership - $250.00 per year
